Meet the Team

Shi Han Chan
Founder

After graduating with a Masters in Psychology and spending a few years in the counselling profession, Shi Han realised there was more to learn about being mentally healthy and happy. She felt additional could be done beyond counselling to help people adjust to a world steeped in stimuli that could at times be overwhelming on the mind and body.

Shi Han discovered answers in the form of one of her earliest passions – dance. In simply moving her body, she found a way to traverse different emotional spaces and reclaim a sense of centredness in life. Thus began her journey with Dance Movement Psychotherapy which led to a Masters qualification in the UK.

Movemental was founded as a map of that journey. It holds everything Shi Han has collected over years of personal study, training and clinical experience. It is her hope that the knowledge and skills she shares become valuable additions to people’s emotional toolkits.

Shi Han is employed and has worked with different departments at the Institute of Mental Health to provide clinical Dance Movement Therapy. She also teaches part-time at the Singapore University of Social Sciences on the Expressive Arts Therapy programme. She continues to provide counselling to individuals, except that now she enjoys integrating her work with her specialisation in the body and movement.
